The Dos Minas Malbec is 100% Malbec from 15-year-old vines in Finca Rio Seco vineyards of Cafayate, Argentina near Salta in northern Argentina. These vineyard sites are warm, but very high in altitude at 1,700 m above sea level, so there are very warm days and cool nights, great for ripening grapes. The grapes were harvested by hand over the 1st and 2nd week of March in 20kg bins, and then fermented in stainless steel. The aging for the wine takes place partially in stainless steel and partially in neutral oak.

“Mina” is old school Argentine slang for “girl,” which has evolved to be used colloquially today to affectionately refer to females of any age. This is a project created by two girls, one form Cafayate, Salta and the other from Buenos Aires by way of California, hence appropriately called “Dos Minas.” Cafayate is a wild desert landscape at am incredibly high altitude that produces equally unique wines. Las Dos Minas make Torrontés and Malbec, believing those grapes to be the two stars of Argentina; they are made in the young, fruity style that the Dos Minas like.
